Directions to get to Kitty Hollow Park:
Going East from Sugarland on Hwy 6: After you cross Lake Olympia Parkway, be on the look out. The entrance to the park is on your left. There are no signs on Hwy 6 for the park.
Going West from Pearland on Hwy 6: After you cross Fort Bend Parkway Toll Road, be on the look out. The entrance to the park is on your right. There are no signs on Hwy 6 for the park.
When you enter the park the road (Kitty Hollow Park Drive) turns to the right. Follow the road till you reach pavilion A.

MEA General Body Meeting
When: Sunday,August 19, 2007 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm
Where: Shiva's Indian Restaurant
16556 SW Freeway, Sugar Land.
(Hwy 6 exit from 59S, near Lowe's & Circuit City)
Agenda:
(1) Approval for Scholarship Amendments
(2) Formation of Scholarship Committee for 2007 (time permitting)
All members of MEA Houston who have paid their dues for the current year are eligible to vote. A simple majority of the eligible voters present at the meeting is required to obtain approval of the amended Scholarship Plan.
If there be any other issue/s that you may want to discuss at this GBM, kindly email ASAP. We will try to include such concerns / suggestions depending on the time we have after addressing the agenda above.
Spouses of MEA members are welcome to attend the meeting. Dinner will be served at the meeting at a cost of $10 per person for members and non-members. Please don't forget to RSVP to swarupjohn@yahoo.com before August 11, 2007. This is to ensure an accurate head count for the dinner and conserve our expenses.

MEA Lecture Series in Engineering

Ahmad Solomon, a seasoned engineering consultant in the petroleum industry, presents a very illuminating discourse on "Exploration, Production and Refining of Oil and Gas".
We will also have a short talk by Dr. MP. Chandrasekharan, the former principal of REC-Kozhikode and the first director when it became the autonomous NIT, following the seminar.

Honoring Padma Vibhushan Dr. E.C. G. Sudarshan

An eminent physicist, philosopher and scholar, Dr. Sudarshan has received numerous other awards and recognitions in his stellar career as a particle physicist, including the Padma Bhushan in 1976. Prof. E.C.G. Sudarshan does research in elementary particle physics, quantum optics, quantum field theory, gauge field theories, fibre bundles, classical mechanics and foundations of physics at The Center for Complex Quantum Systems, Dept. of Physics, The University of Texas at Austin.
He was nominated for the Nobel Prize several times and his potential contributions to last year's award created some controversy.
